Rental documents
The rental voucher must be presented when picking up your rental car. We cannot be held responsible for rentals rejected if a voucher is not presented. You should retain your rental documents for a minimum of 28 days after returning home.
Complaints
If you have a problem during you rental, please inform us immediately so that we can endeavour to put things right. 1car1 will not hold themselves responsible for the non-performance of anything that is beyond their control or when they are not notified of a problem at the point when remedial action can be taken. In the unlikely event that a complaint cannot be resolved at the time, you should write to our Customer Services Department within 30 days of the issue arising.

If you fail to take any of these steps this will hinder our ability to put any problem right and/or investigate it fully and any right you may have to receive compensation will be reduced or completely invalidated.
Cancellations / Amendments
For paid hires all cancellations must be submitted in writing or by calling (+44 113 387 5871) 24 hours prior to the date of collection. Failure to do so will result in a "No Show" and no refund will be given in this case. 1car1 will not refund any unused rental days.
For Non pre-paid, confirmed bookings all cancellations must be submitted in writing or by calling (+44 113 387 5871) 24 hours prior to the date of collection. Failure to do so will result in a “No Show” and a charge-applied equivalent to the first day’s rental or in the case of weekend hires the first 2 days.
Fully inclusive rates
1car1 car rental rates are fully inclusive of unlimited mileage, third party insurance, collision damage waiver liability (CDW), and 1 additional driver
General conditions
All bookings by our clients are subject to our terms and conditions as detailed on the Rental Agreement. No other terms, conditions and warranties, expressed or implied by law, custom and course of dealing shall form part of any contract between 1car1 and our clients except for those terms implied by law whose application is mandatory.
The client acknowledges that in making a booking with 1car1 it does so only on the basis of the material contained in this document. All other statements or representations made by 1car1, its employees, or agents are of no effect unless confirmed by us to the client in writing.
You should satisfy yourself that you understand and agree to its terms and conditions as you will be subject to, and must comply with these terms. 1car1 reserves the right to levy any government increase in VAT that may be introduced after the production of this document.
1car1 liability to the client for any loss, damage, injury or accident whatsoever, whether arising out of negligence, breach of contract or any other cause shall not exceed £2000 or twice the invoiced price of rental of the vehicle concerned (whichever is greater) provided that nothing in this clause shall limit 1car1liability for death or personal injury caused by its negligence.
This does not affect your statutory rights as a consumer. 1car1 will not be held responsible for anyone driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs, causing wilful damage, off road driving or driving without due care and attention. The client will indemnify 1car1 against this in respect of such claims this list is not exclusive.
Additional Services
FREE 2nd Driver any Additional Drivers are charged at £20 per driver per week or £5 per day for hires of less than 7 days.This is capped at 2 weeks and any further weeks additional driver cover is free. If you require additional drivers, they must be present at the time of hiring and are subject to the same restrictions as the main driver. Charges for additional drivers are payable locally on arrival.
Child Seats: Child seats are available at all locations at a cost of £20 per seat for the duration of the hire. If booking online, please specify the number of child seats required and enter the ages of the children in the additional notes field. Please note that for legal reasons, you are responsible for fitting all child seats yourself.
Insurance excess reduction: You have the option to reduce the excess on your hire vehicle at a cost of £5 per day or £20 per week. This reduces the excess by 50% so if the excess is £500 you will be liable for £250 or if the excess is £1000 you will be liable for £500. The maximum payable to reduce the excess is £80.
When is Payment Expected?
All Payment is due 30 days before Travel, unless there is an advertised special in which there is another set deadline. You will be made aware of this in all correspondance. If travel is within 30 days then payment is due immediately.
Payment
All payments must be made by a credit, switch or debit card. The card must be in the main drivers name. We cannot accept Solo, Electron, Lazer, Cash Plus, American Express or Diners Club cards. Some international switch/maestro cards are also unacceptable.
Cards will only be accepted if they are embossed and show the drivers name, Card Number, Expiration Date and Security Code.
We do not accept payment from third party credit cards nor do we accept cash or cheque payments.
If your card has the "Chip And Pin" function, then you MUST be able to supply your pin number when requested, failure to do this could result in your vehicle not being supplied.
Pricing fluctuations
Rental Charges are seasonal and may be subject to change without prior notice. All reservations received and prior to a pricing change will be honoured at their original rate ONLY if a deposit has been made. Unfortunately if no deposit has been made and the price changes we reserve the right to pass on those charges at all times.
Driving Licence
Drivers must be between 25 and 75 years of age and able to produce a full, valid, British or international driving licence held for at least two years. All International hirers must provide a readable unexpired licence from their country of origin, If the license is not in English, an international driving license must be provided also.
It is the driver's responsibility to ensure that he/she has the appropriate driving licence. Our reservations agent must be informed of any endorsements on the driver's licence, as we may not be able to take your booking.
No refunds will be given for rentals rejected due to non-production of a driving licence or non-disclosed endorsements. Please note that if you have a new photo card driving licence you will need to take the paper counterpart with you. For more details contact the DVLA in Swansea on 0870 240 0009, faxed or photocopied licences are not acceptable.
*Australian Licence that is full and current held for more than 2 Years is fine to use.
International driving licences
Please note, all international driving licences must be backed up with a passport. If you hold a foreign driving licence you must contact LCH/1car1 to check whether your licence is acceptable. No third party credit cards can be taken.
The Hirer must possess, either a valid credit, switch or debit card in there own name. Licences must have been held for a minimum of two years (If a new licence, both parts are required). If you are unsure about any of our restrictions / conditions please seek further information on 0113 3875568.
Excluded costs
Personal accident insurance. Fuel is paid locally. Additional driver requirements should be notified and paid for at the time of booking. Delivery and collection of your car can be arranged, but there may be subject to an additional cost. Also excluded are out of hour's charges, optional extras such as child seats (which must be requested at the time of booking)
Deposits
Please note that we require a £500 deposit when hiring the, Chrysler Voyager, Mercedes E Class, Dodge Nitro & Minibus Vehicles.
All clients must produce a valid credit, switch or debit card in the name of the driver upon collection of the car as a form of deposit. Cash or Cheque deposits are not accepted.
Fuel Policy
Please note that our vehicles run on an empty to empty policy. This ensures that 1car1 do not freeze any money on credit card as a fuel deposit.
Insurance Excess
For standard vehicles, the insurance excess is £500 and for all people carriers, minibuses and executive class vehicles, the excess is £1000. When requesting an online quote, the appropriate insurance excess is displayed next to each vehicle. This excess is not taken in the form of a deposit, we will simply take a credit card imprint and ask that you give authorisation that, in the unlikely event of an accident, we may charge your card for the appropriate amount.
Provision of cars
Please note that we can refuse to provide a vehicle to any customer who is, in our opinion, unfit to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements. In such circumstances your contract with us will terminate immediately, and 1car1 will have no further liability to you.
Deliveries
Delivery and collection requires a minimum of 5 days rental - Full address including postal code and a contact number are required. Delivery and collection times are not confirmed at the time of booking, only AM or PM. You must contact the relevant branch to confirm times at least 24 hours prior to the start date
Number of passengers
Our rental vehicles are insured for a maximum number of passengers. 1car1 cannot accept responsibility if the vehicle is not large enough to fit all passengers and luggage on arrival if details were not supplied at the time of booking.
Occupations
There are restrictions imposed by our insurer, which mean that we are unfortunately unable to hire to persons in certain occupational areas. These include professional entertainers, professional sports persons, publicans, nightclub owners, owners of gaming establishments, members of the foreign military and students.
Flight information
Airport pick-ups: it is essential that 1car1 be given the correct flight number and arrival time at the time of booking. 1car1 does not accept any liability for problems arising from incorrect flight information being provided, 1car1 does not accept bookings at "Airport" locations for customers not flying into the airport.
Car type / suitability
1car1 is unable to guarantee a particular make or model of car. The car shown on your voucher is for guidance only and may be substituted for an alternative, similar or upgraded car (at no extra cost). If you are dissatisfied in any way with the standard of the car, you must advise us immediately in writing within 30 days of your return. The Company cannot accept liability where this procedure is not followed.
1car1 are constantly updating our fleet, therefore we may hold two different models of the same vehicle including an older shape if the manufacturer has recently updated the look of the vehicle. 1car1 is unable to guarantee which shape of vehicle you will receive. We are also unable to guarantee the type of fuel your vehicle will use ahead of time.
Whilst 1car1 try to keep all vehicles on fleet under 18 months old, with certain specialised vehicles this may not be the case.
Travel outside of the UK
We do offer cover for customers to take vehicles outside of Mainland Britain or to Northern Ireland at an additional cost, however due to Insurance restrictions a minimum age of 30 is required for drivers in vehicles travelling outside this area.

**Please be aware that until approved by 1car1, no vehicles can be taken outside of mainland Britain or to Northern Ireland, We are unable to allow certain vehicles to leave mainland Britain, Including Minibuses, Chrysler Jeeps, Voyagers and Mercedes. Please contact us for further details**
Out of hours charges
In most locations flights will be met and cars supplied outside of normal working hours, however there may be an additional charge for this service payable locally. This will be quoted when your flight timings are given to us. Please note that in the event that a flight is delayed, causing the car pick-up to fall outside normal working hours, the additional charge will be made.
Mechanical difficulties / accidents
In the event of any mechanical difficulties or accidents involving your car, it is important that details are reported to us within 24 hours. You must also complete an accident form by the end of the rental period.
Local police should also be notified in the case of accidents and a signed police report obtained. Full details of third parties should also be obtained. You should retain copies of all rental documentation in the event an insurance company is involved.
Compensation cannot be considered when this procedure is not followed. A checkout form must be signed on return of the vehicle. Failure to do so may delay the investigation of disputes regarding insurance excess charges.
Identification
All UK residents must be able to produce a recent utility bill or bank statement dated within the last 3 months and a valid credit, switch or debit card in the name of the main hirer. International hirers must be able to produce a passport and valid credit card in the name of the main hirer. Unfortunately we are unable to accept Visa Electron, Cash Plus, Lazer and Solo debit cards.
All additional drivers must be present at the time of hiring and must be able to produce a full valid driving licence conforming to the stipulations above.
Congestion charging
Congestion charging Any vehicle movement into, out of or within the marked charging zone ("CCZ") between 07:00hrs and 18:00hrs (Monday to Friday), is chargeable at the rate of £8 per day.
Only one payment per vehicle, per day is required, once the first payment is made, any number of journeys may be made that day into, out of or within the CCZ, by that vehicle. The payment of £8 must be made by 22:00hrs on the day the movement was made; otherwise the charge rises to £10. If that is not paid before midnight on the following chargable day, a Penalty Charge Notice will be issued in the sum of £100 (discounted to £50 if paid within 14 days). If the charge is not paid within 28 days, the charge rises to £150.
Your Responsibilities
You must pay for any vehicle movement into, out of or within the CCZ, Where we make a delivery to you, within the CCZ; you must pay the £8. This covers the first day's Charge. All other days' charges, including the charge for the last day of the hire, are your responsibility.
When you pay the charge, you will be given a receipt / transaction number for the payment. Please retain this number as you will need it in case of a dispute between you and Transport for London ("TfL") You can pay by phone, text, Internet, or pay - point, but you must pay on the day you used the CCZ. If you fail to pay, TfL will send you a Penalty Charge Notice.
It is your responsibility to pay this Penalty Charge. If you fail to pay the charge on the day you used the CCZ, you will also be charged an Administration Fee by us.
Traffic Offences
An Administration Charge of £40 + VAT will be levied per parking offence plus the excess Parking Charge (where necessary), Any Penalty Charges for Speeding/Road traffic Offences (Including Bus Lane Offences & London Congestion Charges) And any other Traffic Infringement charges.
Mini Bus Hire
Due to insurance restrictions we are unable to supply Mini busses to anyone with a licence issued outside of the UK. All drivers must be over 30 years old. If you did not pass your driving test before January 1997 your licence must show the D1 category. All licences must be clear of any endorsements, if you are unsure about any of the above then please contact our call centre on +44 (0) 113 387 5866.
Our Mini busses cannot be taken outside mainland Britain.
